2023-2024 SJP Basketball Rec League for 3rd & 4th Graders

We look forward to being able to start up our Rec League portion of our CYO Program!

For those parents that are new to CYO, here are some bullet points that describe our rec league program/season for 3rd and 4th graders only.  We have a girls and boys division.

• Fee:$125
• Registration is open to members of the Sts. John & Paul Parish, SJP School and some special exceptions. Please contact us at coordinator@sjpcyo.org if you are looking for a special exception.
• VERY TENATIVE: We will  have 10 weeks of basketball, starting Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023 through Feb. 10, 2024 (Not including 12/23, 12/30/23 and 1/13/24).
• There will be 3rd and 4th-grade children on each team. 
• Each child is given a team shirt to wear and they are expected to wear it every Saturday, please.
• Your child's coach will reach out before the season to share the schedule for the season.
• All sessions will be on Saturdays unless Mother Nature dictates otherwise. They will be scheduled between 9 a.m and 3 p.m.
• The league is run in conjunction with the St. Augustine's (Larchmont) CYO program and sessions will take place at either the SJP or St. Augustine's gym.
• Each session will last approximately 90 minutes and the court will be shared with another SJP or St. Augustine's team based on the schedule. For the 1st 45 min, your child's coach will run them through a practice focusing on the fundamentals of basketball. The last 45 minutes will be spent playing an organized game vs the team they are sharing the court with that week. 7th-12th graders will ref the games for community service hours and there are times throughout the games to teach the children the rules and what they may have done incorrectly as it relates to the rules of the game.
• There are no overall records kept but the season culminates with a girl and boy "round-robin" tournament among all of the SJP and St. Augustine's teams. The TENTATIVE date for this is Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024.
